WHY PRIMA?
According to Merriam-Webster Dictionary, PRIMA means “FIRST; LEADING.”
Prima Girl is a sisterhood of unique young ladies who encounter a variety of life-changing adventures! Our program is designed to help them discover their inner leadership qualities while enhancing their professional and socio-emotional development. We pride ourselves in exposing Prima Girls to different cultures, professions, experiences and events that will create a holistic leader!
MISSION
The mission of Prima Girl is to provide young ladies with tools and resources, to build confidence, value and find their inherent strength and purpose.
HISTORY
Our Executive Director once worked at a mental health agency serving families with intensive needs. During that time she saw many students missing the resources that help build a successful future. One night she wrote down an idea for a mentorship program and prayed about it. After consulting and collaborating with key community members, the vision came to life in just five months. The first Prima Girl session began June 21, 2021.
ORGANIZATION
Prima Girl is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit and a member of the local Chamber of Commerce. We are also privileged to collaborate with various churches, schools, businesses and organizations that help our mission come to life!
Mentee Program
The program consists of a five-month cycle that includes cultural field trips, as well as participation in community service projects and pop-up workshops held throughout the year. Each month focuses on a specific topic — including leadership development, basic living skills, and career exploration — while also covering drug prevention and age-appropriate sex education. The final month of the cycle is devoted to creating vision boards,. At this semi-formal celebration, we honor each young woman’s completion of the program and her family joins us as she is pinned with a special Prima Girl lapel.
We also recognize the importance of interpersonal development which why throughout the cycle we focus on mental health, increasing self-esteem and social skills using evidence-based curriculum.

We believe the foundation of any purpose and success comes from God. For this reason, we begin and end our sessions with prayer and a scripture reading.
Community
We believe that having a sense of belonging and connection enhances the quality of interpersonal skills and social relationships and is an important aspect of development.
Which is why we promote healthy relationships within the program and in the world at large!
Collaboration
We believe in working together with individuals, volunteers, businesses and organizations who broaden the spectrum of resources and opportunities which allow our young ladies to expand their dreams and work towards fulfilling them!
